I'd love to know who you are. I live in Cincinnati and although I come into Phily once a month, I don't overlap with National Sibling Day. I have been active with Claudia, as I assume so have you. So, I'd like to make contact. Have you done this before, and if yes, and what type of response have you gotten?

I have been thinking about writing my story for the survival guide but am having difficulty getting it out of my head through my heart and out. Resisting looking at what has been hidden and carried for so long. I will attempt again to respond. Need encouragement.

Where are the adults who have raised their diabled brother and or sister for the past 40 years. Our brother never went to a group home. My sister is his main caregiver and comes home with me on weekends. There must be a lot of older people out there like us.

Thank you for this touching tribute to your brother. I resonated with much of it as your family's story and decisions about caring for your brother are very similar to my family's story and decisions. My brother, Jim, who has Down Syndrome, is now 61 years old and enjoying life. He has been a gift in our lives as well.

So excited about this partnership! As an employee of The Arc, sibling of two individuals with disabilities, and a member of Alabama Siblings Investing in our Brothers and Sisters (AL-ASIBS), (which is sponsored by The Arc of Shelby County and a member of the Sibling Leadership Network), I believe that these two organizations can ACHIEVE so much together to improve the lives of all people with disabilities. THANK YOU to both organizations for creating this great partnership!
